About

I once watched a documentary about the Dust Bowl in 1930s America, when drought and wind created huge dust storms that scrubbed the Midwest of almost all crops and plants.  There were no branches to be found, so the birds built their nests out of pieces of barbed wire and whatever else they could find.

That image has always stayed with me.

This blog is about channeling that same ingenuity and creativity to craft a cozy nest in the face of hard times.  From barbed wire nests to feed sack quilts, that spirit of homespun creativity that created beauty from scraps has always amazed and inspired me.

I am an avid budgeter, DIYer, recycler, repurposer and lover of life.  Please join me on this adventure! 🙂
